Celebrating 75 Years in Business.
This year, Amtrol celebrates its 75th Anniversary. Thanks to the many dedicated and talented employees, Amtrol has grown into a worldwide industry leader, built on a reputation for innovation, high quality products and exceptional service. This focus continues today as we reached our 75th year in business with virtually all products made in the USA.
From its very humble beginning in West Warwick, Rhode Island, Amtrol Tube Products was founded by Chester H. Kirk in 1946. His vision was based on innovation and exploring new ideas and continues after 75 years in business.
When Amtrol invented the world’s first pre-pressurized diaphragm expansion tank in 1954, known as the Extrol®, nobody realized how far-reaching this new product concept would be in redefining the design and operation of vital mechanical systems. The Extrol expansion tank is The One That Started it All™.
The first pre-pressurized well tank was invented by Amtrol in 1963. The Well-X-Trol® became The Professional’s Choice and the #1 well tank in the industry. It continues to be Well Above The Rest®.
In 1973, American Tube & Controls moved to its current location in West Warwick, Rhode Island and changed its name to Amtrol Inc.
The Amtrol Center for Education was founded to provide vital product and industry training and development for engineers, professional installers and distributors who design, install and service our products.
Amtrol invented the Thermal Expansion tank to absorb expanded water in closed, hot water systems to protect the water heater. With leading features such as Clean Water Technology™ and an industry best 50 psig precharge, the Therm-X-Trol® remains the benchmark in the industry.
Amtrol’s brand identity was updated to reflect a more modern look. The AT logo continues to be recognized by generations of customers throughout the industry.
Amtrol is acquired by Worthington Industries, a leading global, diversified metals manufacturing company, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
