Below are Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I set my hydronic expansion tank precharge to?

A: Your hydronic expansion tank precharge needs to be set to the fill pressure of your hydronic system.

Q: Does orientation matter on my hydronic expansion tank?

A: Yes! Your hydronic expansion tank should always be installed in the vertical, downward orientation.

Q: What is an Insight Cap?

A: The Insight Cap, found on Extrol and Extrol PRO, is an easy warning indicator that your expansion tank needs to be serviced or replaced. When your expansion tank needs replacement, the Insight Cap will turn a red/orange color.

Q: How do I know if my hydronic expansion tank needs to be replaced?

A: A common symptom of a hydronic expansion tank that needs replacement is a T&P relief valve dripping water. An easy way to confirm your expansion tank condition is to see if the Insight Cap is indicating a failed tank.

Q: When do I need an Extrol PRO?

A: The Extrol PRO includes an oxygen barrier liner and stainless-steel connection. These features are beneficial for high efficiency heating systems, radiant heating, and solar applications.
